OUR VISION

It is a dream of Tobit's Disciple that every Christian shall follow the footstep of Christ. That every step he'll make can contribute a little, as a tiny drop of water in an endless ocean, to the huge and ultimate Mission of Jesus which is to save the world. Because, every Christian can be a partaker of this great mission.

TOBITISM was founded by an ordinary lay minister of St. Michael the Archangel Parish in the Diocese of Marbel, South Central Mindanao, Philippines. His only passion is to serve and give anything on his disposal to his poor, lowly and powerless neighbors. Everything is not a big deal to him for he did it without knowing that he already started his journey in building a Community of Disciples whose only mission is to give to the needy of what they have in their position and to do anything and everything which is pleasant to the eyes of the Almighty.

The birth of Tobitism started when this poor and humble lay minister came across the Book of Tobit in the Bible. Some simple deeds and teachings of Tobit struck him and became the foundation of new a mission, like the following: "I went out, dug a grave, and buried the man", "Give according to what you have. The more you have, the more you should give. Even if you have only a little, be sure to give something", "Taking care of the poor is the kind of offering that pleases God in heaven", "Give food to the hungry and clothes to people in need. If you are prosperous, give generously, and do it gladly!", "When one of God's faithful people has died, prepare food for the family". These inspirations are now in Tobitism focus Programs.

TOBITISM, by the grace and guidance of God, have gone too far now; from neighbors to different far flung barangays and slum areas in Mindanao. By just doing simple things, the mission began to sprout; giving pair of slippers, blankets and mosquito nets, visiting and evangelizing the prisoners, conducting livelihood trainings, attending burial ceremonies, feeding the children and many more, in line with the teachings of Tobit. Many people recognized Jesus in this simple acts of mercy.

Now, God uses Tobitism as an instrument to ignite the missionary spirit of other people, rich and poor alike, to become a partaker of this mission. Many have expressed their support as volunteers, and others especially the rich, have shared their treasure for the implementation of the programs.
